  Which PTFE or FEP to choose depends on the user's needs. The commonly used color of PTFE is milky white, followed by translucent and colored. Transparent has not yet been invented. While FEP replaces the disadvantages of PTFE, the commonly used color of FEP is transparent.

  In addition to the color substitution, their temperature resistance is slightly different. PTFE can withstand high temperature of 260 degrees, and FEP can withstand high temperature of 200 degrees. If you need a transparent tube, with a high temperature resistance of 260 degrees, you can use PFA instead.

  Next, I will introduce the difference between PTFE and FEP.

  Polytetrafluoroethylene (Poly tetra fluoroethylene, abbreviated as PTFE), is generally called "non-stick coating" or "easy to clean material". This material is resistant to acids, alkalis, and various organic solvents, and is almost insoluble in all solvents. At the same time, PTFE has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, and its friction coefficient is extremely low, so it can be used for lubrication and become an ideal coating for easy cleaning of the inner layer of water pipes.

  The mechanical properties of PTFE are relatively soft. Has a very low surface energy. PTFE has a series of excellent performance:

  High temperature resistance: long-term use temperature 200~260 degrees;

  Low temperature resistance: still soft at -100 degrees;

  Corrosion resistance: resistant to aqua regia and all organic solvents;

  Weather resistance: the best aging life among plastics;

  High lubrication: has the smallest coefficient of friction in plastics (0.04);

  Non-sticky: It has the smallest surface tension among solid materials and does not adhere to any substances;

  Non-toxic: It is physiologically inert; it has excellent electrical properties and is an ideal C-level insulating material. A thick layer of newspaper can block the high voltage of 1500V; it is smoother than ice.

  The friction coefficient of PTFE is extremely small, only 1/5 of polyethylene, which is an important feature of perfluorocarbon surface. In addition, because the fluorine-carbon chain intermolecular forces are extremely low, PTFE is non-sticky. Polytetrafluoroethylene maintains excellent mechanical properties in a wide temperature range of -196 to 260°C. One of the characteristics of perfluorocarbon polymers is that they are not brittle at low temperatures. PTFE has a high density, 2.14-2.20g/cm, almost no water absorption, and the equilibrium water absorption rate is less than 0.01%. Polytetrafluoroethylene is a typical soft and weak polymer. The mutual attraction between macromolecules is small, rigidity, hardness, and strength are small, and it will deform under long-term stress.

  Features of FP structure of polyperfluoroethylene propylene pass material:

  Polyperchloroethylene propylene FEP is a copolymer of two monomers of tetraoxyethylene and hexafluoropropylene. The abbreviation code is FEP. Polyperfluoroethylene propylene FEP is a linear polymer. The molecular chain can be regarded as the main polytetrafluoroethylene. As a result of the replacement of one fluorine atom attached to every four carbon atoms in the chain by a CF3 group, the symmetry and regularity of the FEP molecular chain are broken compared with polytetrafluoroethylene, which reduces the rigidity of the molecular chain and increases the flexibility. , The melting point of the material will decrease, the fluidity will increase, and the heat resistance will also be lower.

  The destruction of FEP regularity affects the crystallinity of the material, and the crystallinity will be reduced. The FEP molecular chain still does not show polarity. Polyperfluoroethylene propylene is a milky white translucent to transparent body, with a density of 2.14–2.179/cm3, the second-generation polytetrafluoroethylene, the surface is as smooth as wax, and the water absorption rate does not exceed 0.01%.
